Dear Luther Burbank Families,
Our character trait for August and September is integrity. For students, integrity means being honest, completing their own authentic work, making responsible choices, and doing what is right—even when no one is watching.
Please take a few minutes to talk with your child about integrity and how they can demonstrate it at school, at home, and in the community. You might ask:
What does integrity mean to you?
How did you demonstrate integrity today?
What can you do when making the right choice feels difficult?
Why is it important to produce your own work and be honest?
This year, students will also complete a brief weekly check-in through Sown to Grow. These check-ins give students an opportunity to reflect on how they are feeling, share their experiences, and communicate what they may need to feel successful and supported.
We encourage you to ask your child about the check-in and how connected they feel to school. Conversation starters may include:
What did you reflect on during your Sown to Grow check-in?
Do you feel welcomed and included at school?
Is there an adult at school you trust and can talk to?
When do you feel most connected to your classmates and teachers?
Is there anything that would help you feel more supported at school?
Please listen openly and remind your child that their voice matters. If your child shares a concern or says they do not feel connected or supported, please contact their teacher or the school so we can work together to help.
Thank you for partnering with us to strengthen integrity, student voice, and a sense of belonging throughout our school community.
Listen. Connect. Respond. Grow.
